Look before you leap: It’s advice that comes in handy more often than you’d think.

Lately, this advice has been particularly pertinent given all the hubbub going on in the world of air travel. While you might have thought in previous years that you’d be just fine visiting grandma in Iowa, now, every trip is laced with a nascent feeling of “I really hope the wings don’t fall off the plane.”

One would think that this fear only takes hold once you’ve entered the air. However, accidents are just as likely to happen while one is still on the ground, as this recent video shows.

In the clip, which Newsweek says was filmed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Indonesia, two workers can be seen removing a staircase from an airplane. There’s just one problem: a man was about to step out of the plane.

Rather than looking to make sure the staircase is still there, the man steps out into the abyss, his body falling a significant distance before hitting the ground.

Newsweek states that the man didn’t sustain life-threatening injuries, though I’m sure he’s going to have a few bruises that will take a while to heal. There’s also currently no word as to an actual lawsuit from the man in question. But if all works out well, he’ll be too busy in first class to ever worry about anything like this happening again.
