We’ve all been tempted to make — who am I kidding, we’ve all *made* a bet that we know, deep down in our hearts, isn’t going to pay off.

But that doesn’t stop us from trying! Ridiculous parlays, prop bets on players of whom we barely know the name — hell, it may not be smart, but it’s what gets us through the workday.

One man recently made such a bet only to discover that the unthinkable was happening: He was actually going to win it.

Last week, a man named Wayne Shelton announced that he had placed a $100 bet on a three-way parlay. “All he needed was for the Oklahoma City Thunder to win an NBA championship, after the first two legs cashed on a Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl title and Texas Rangers World Series title,” writes USA Today.

Unbelievably, his bets actually paid off, but before he could hit the final leg, he did what no better ever does and cashed out while he was ahead.

Sure, he’s a paper-hands McGee over here, but this man just made $80,000 off of a $100 bet. That deserves a helluva lot of respect.

Of course, some fun killers were quick to point out that some sites that weren’t DraftKings probably would have given him a better payout, or that other people would have bought his bet for more. Still, Shelton definitely made a smart move, saying that the money would be going toward his family.

Hats off to you, Wayne. Just don’t place all that $80k on another ridiculous bet.
