A massive explosion near a shopping center sent clouds and fire shooting through the sky in Villa Valdez, near the capital of Santo Domingo.

Though it’s unclear what sparked the inferno, a daunting blaze captured in several terrifying clips shared to social media, rescue and recovery efforts are still underway, with 10 people confirmed dead, 50 injured and many others still missing.

Why are there so many explosions and shit blowing up….everywhere?

“The search for survivors has been very difficult,” President President Luis Abinader told AP News, adding that “we’re doing everything humanly possible” as they “investigate the situation of the 11 missing.”

We can only hope that those missing are quickly reunited with their families. After all, explosions are only fun when they’re badass … or really, really stupid.
