It's unclear how Doja Cat's name became attached to this September 1 manifestation trend floating around TikTok, but the audio associated with the trend has amassed 2.1 million views and the associated hashtag #3111 has gained over 13 million views.
The trend began on TikTok where users urged each other to use the audio, "Beach Waves Sounds – Ocean Sounds, Sea Waves Sounds and Ocean Wave" before September 1, promising those who did $3,111. And well, today is the day and to our knowledge, no one who posted the audio has reaped the rewards.
@sandyhosea Just in case... #dojacat #trending #manifest #whynot #fyp? #manifestation ? Beach Waves Sounds - Ocean Sounds & Sea Waves Sounds & Ocean Waves
We can't blame people for trying though, because we love free shit as much as the next person, especially free money. To properly understand the 'Doja Cats September 1st manifestation trend' we first, need to understand what manifestation is and how TikTok trends work. So let's start with the easier concept. TikTok trends.
TikTok trends typically center around audio clips. And these audio clips are typically coupled with dance moves or a specific visual story. Think the Harlem Shake or more recently popular the 'Teenage Dirt Bag Trend.' An audio clip goes viral and is then used by people to participate in whatever the trend is, dancing, eating out of a friend's hand, or sharing childhood pictures.

Manifestation is the act of willing your desires and needs into existence. Think 'The Secret'. The manifestation community, if we can call it that, is laughable, and not because the people who partake in posting daily affirmations or manifestations are laughable, but because this type of magical thinking is harmful.
Anyone who has ever had a goal or worked toward something knows that before you "achieve" you must first "believe." Even kindergarteners know this, it's no secret. However, posting a video to TikTok with trending audio is more like buying a lottery ticket than it is setting an intention or goal.
So while it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that posting TikTok trends isn't the best way to come into easy money, partaking in the hype, for the sake of a potential payday is pretty enticing.
