Though Londoner Kevy Kabula may have claimed he had no drugs on his person, a look in his pocket — and later his underwear — proved otherwise.
On December 4, Kabula, 20, found himself facing a search from Thorpe Wood Police, after several plainclothes officers approached him in Peterborough, England.
“At the moment, you’re detained for a section 23 misuse of drugs act search,” began the unnamed officer in bodycam footage of the incident. “I believe you’ve just had something in your hand and you were serving up to these people here.”
Despite Kabula’s vehement denials — “That’s my friend! I’m not doing anything!” he cried — the authorities decided to press forward, thumbing through his pockets.
While at first, the officer’s efforts appeared to be only in vain, only a handful of cell phones, cash and one lone baggie of cocaine — one Kabula claimed the officer picked up off the ground — emerging from his pockets, a trip to the police station proved a whole lot more fruitful.
Upon enacting a strip search, officers discovered a whole motherload of drugs hidden in Kabula’s undies, a haul including “127 wraps of crack cocaine and 60 wraps of heroin.” This finding not only equated to roughly $2,368 USD, per BBC News but landed the young man some serious jail time. On Thursday, he was ultimately sentenced to four years behind bars.
So take it from Kabula — when in doubt, shove your drugs up your a— and pray they don’t make you squat and cough … and maybe don’t sell heroin.
