Another day, another in-flight fight.
Nowadays, it seems that we’re hit with a new in-air incident almost every time a plane hits the sky. At the end of last year, there was that Australian man who started trash talking mid-flight and ended his journey with a face full of American fist. Then we had that Russian man who had to be arrested after freaking out midair, and the woman who began screaming and crawling over seats while claiming she was kidnapped. No wonder so many people are debating whether airlines should serve alcohol!
Now, we’ve got another one — two dudes who decided to throw hands while on a Southwest flight from Oakland to Lihue, on the island of Kauai. How do you say “calm the fuck down” in pidgin?
To date, no one is sure what caused the fight between these two people, especially given the fact that the fight seems to have broken out only an hour into the flight.
No matter the reason, Southwest wasn’t too thrilled about the fact that two of its flyers turned the Basic Economy section into a boxing ring. In a statement to Hawaii News Now, the airline said that they “commend our Crew and Customers for their professionalism in diffusing this situation” and that the flight landed safely at its scheduled destination following the incident. Oh yeah, the flight was also met by authorities upon landing, but it’s presently unclear if any charges have been pressed against the two men involved.
Reminder: Our department has zero tolerance for violent or unruly behavior aboard an aircraft. If you act out on an airplane, you can face criminal prosecution and fines up to $37,000. https://t.co/OWrtUYcHr4

One party that surprisingly got in on the viral action was the U.S. Department of Transportation, who reminded X/Twitter users, “Our department has zero tolerance for violent or unruly behavior aboard an aircraft. If you act out on an airplane, you can face criminal prosecution and fines up to $37,000.”
At this point, I say make it part of the flight experience. If two people start fighting, the airline should be allowed to collect bets, and the loser of the fight should have to pay the winner’s FAA fine. I’m telling you, this idea has legs — someone get Spirit Airlines on the phone!
