Once again, people on the internet are oversharing and leaving a trail of destruction and a crowd of traumatized viewers in their wake. This week’s oversharer is a TikToker who took it upon himself to tell everyone about how sleeping with his long lost brother made him realize he wasn’t actually gay.

The video is long — 8 minutes long, to be exact — but provides all of the necessary context: His parents split up when he was very young, and his father started dating a new woman, with whom he had a second son. They broke up too, and the new woman didn’t want the brother to know that OP was his brother, so she asked OP’s mom to keep up the lie that the two boys were cousins, which she refused to do, so the boys were kept apart for 19 years.

Last October, OP came across his half brother’s TikTok after searching for him online for years, reaching out to him; the pair clicked instantly, eventually meeting up and heading to OP’s grandparents’ place in California. His grandparents didn’t want him to move back in with them, but were happy for the half brother to crash despite him being a stranger to them. He rejected their offer, and the pair decided to move to Maryland together.

At some point, the half brother suggested that they should be together, which OP wasn’t initially receptive to, although he does concede that he’s a “people pleaser.” He continues, “One thing led to another and… I hooked up with my little brother.” Not only that, but, “That shit turned me straight,” after questioning his sexuality his entire life.

Or as he explains, “Something about two consenting adults being blood related and doing something like that will really fuckin’ open your eyes.” The pair haven’t spoken in months, and his brother hates him now, which he understands. Commenters were understandably horrified, with one person joking, “That wasn’t tea… that was teaquila,” while another said, “I knew it was coming and I still gasped.”

Same, bro, same.

While shocking to some, his story isn’t unheard of. A quick Google search for “genetic sexual attraction” will bring up dozens of results of people sharing similar stories of meeting up with an estranged relative and feeling attracted to them. Either way, the consensus online aligns with what OP detailed in his video: “It is hard to repair or restore the relationship to a more, appropriate form once the sexual boundary has been crossed.”
