It feels like we might be approaching a watershed moment when it comes to plastic surgery procedures; more and more people are opening up about their regrets when it comes to getting Botox, or fillers, or boob jobs, or BBLs, and there are more and more news stories every month about people who’ve tragically died after such procedures have gone wrong.

When I tell you i was genuinely scared for my life after dissolving 6 year old filler

One woman on TikTok, Steph, who describes herself as an amateur golfer and a professional massage therapist, recently shared the results after getting her lip filler dissolved after six years. She tells the camera, “I haven’t seen my normal little lips in six whole years, let’s go!” before going on to explain that she’s feeling emotional about the decision and that she barely recognizes herself without lip filler.

She then shows us the results immediately after the dissolver was put in, and her lips are insanely swollen and inflated — and it gets worse. In the car on the way home, she covers her mouth with an ice pack, until acquiescing to her partner’s request for her to show him her lips: They’re even bigger, and taking over the entire bottom half of her face. At this point, it’s also difficult for her to talk.

She continues to ice her lips on the drive home and adds that she feels like things are improving just during the span of the car ride, but visually, the lips are much the same. Steph has fun with it though, telling viewers, “I hope I’ve made your day. I hope you screenshot this and send this to your sister.”

People in the comments debated whether or not Steph’s reaction was normal, with many describing it as an allergic reaction and asking why she didn’t seek medical attention. Fortunately it all turned out okay, but for future reference: This amount of swelling is extreme and unusual!

In a clip from two days later, her lips look significantly better, and she talks about how different she thinks she looks while admitting that the difference probably isn’t noticeable enough for us (it isn’t). She looks great, which only highlights how unnecessary most of these procedures are. Steph doesn’t agree, however, revealing in the comments that she’s going back in six weeks to get her lips done once more.
