In case you don’t follow golf, we’re currently in the middle of the U.S. Open Championship, where the holes of Pinehurst, North Carolina are currently beating the shit out of some of the world’s best golfers.

For some reason, this year has proven particularly difficult for the champions, with numerous golfers showing their ass by putting up some of the worst numbers of their careers. It’s great, really.

While some have complained about this, others see this uptick in difficulty as the kick in the pants the sport desperately needed. After all, given the ongoing fiasco that is the Saudi-run LIV Golf experiment, any mention of the sport that focuses on the sport itself and not the politics around it is a breath of fresh air.

No matter if it’s more fun for audiences, I’m sure golfers hate it — which makes me want them to create an even harder course for next year. If you really want to grab audiences, you’ll host the 2025 U.S. Open on a course inspired by M.C. Escher.

Good luck with that one, boys!
