A man working for a pizza restaurant in Indiana selflessly ran into a burning house to save the five children who were trapped inside. Nicholas Bostic was making a delivery when he came upon a house in flames. He says his natural reaction was to stop and to make sure everyone inside was okay and that they were able to get out safely.


He entered through the back door, calling out for the residents to see if anyone was inside. He heard voices of children coming from up the stairs and quickly ran up to check. They met him in the hall and all escaped through the back door. 



Bostic then asked if there was anyone else and the children said their 6-year-old sister was still upstairs. He reentered through the back door and up the stairs, however, the smoke was too thick for him to breathe or see. He wrapped the shirt around his face and called out for the girl. 


"I used her voice to guide me," Bostic said.



With the girl in his arms and smoke and fire blocking the way out of the backdoor, the heroic pizza man made the quick decision to jump out of the second-story window. Saving her life.


The Lafayette Police Department said the girl was, "miraculously mostly uninjured." Bostic suffered from a laceration on his arm from the broken glass of the window he jumped from and heavy smoke inhalation. His first words to the first responders were, "Please, tell me that baby is okay."


Bostic was airlifted to a hospital in Indianapolis, right after one of the medics told him, "You did good, dude."



The Lafayette Police Department said in a statement about Bostic, "Nicholas Bostic's heroic actions saved lives. His selflessness during this incident is inspiring, and he has impressed many with his courage, tenacity, and steadfast calmness in the face of such perilous danger. The Lafayette Police Department and the Honorable Mayor Tony Roswarski are eternally grateful for Nicholas' intervention and would like to publicly recognize him for his actions."


Hopefully, Bostic's story inspires others to rise above and do better when they're faced with a serious decision.
