They say nothing in life is truly free. While something may appear on the surface to be devoid of cost, there’s inevitably going to be some asterisk or clause attached to it that makes you pay in one way or another. Frequently, this clause will even surpass the value of the actual item you’re getting for free — looking at you, Facebook.
However, sometimes, “free” does actually mean free. At least, that’s according to one man who’s currently hanging out on the streets of San Francisco.

This is a sign at the encampment we regularly clean around on 9th Ave and Geary, right next to the Richmond Library.

Can anyone justify how we accept this as normal and acceptable? pic.twitter.com/uCRhpom4Tp
In a Twitter post, user Betty Yu says she saw a man with two signs camped on the beautiful boulevards of San Fran. One of those signs read, “Meth for Stolen Items,” and the other, “Free Fentanyl 4 New Users.”
ABC7 later followed up with the man, who claimed that his offer was “not a joke.” Now let’s just open up this article here: “Moore is a convicted sex offender who set up camp across the street from a Catholic grade school in San Francisco's Richmond District more than two years ago.”
Yeah, that tracks.
Anyway, when speaking with ABC7, he says that he isn’t really a drug dealer; rather, he’s “passing on the drugs that other people give him, in exchange for blankets and supplies he provides.”
One of the craziest headlines — SF Standard reporting that convicted child molester set up camp across from grade school offering “free fentanyl for new users”. I had to check it out and it’s true. I just left the location as authorities are trying to get him to move. Story at 6. pic.twitter.com/FCtHy9Qog0

"Yeah, I only live by two rules: be kind to others and make it look easy for children,” he told ABC7. Not sure how exactly that relates to the free Fent, but we’ll take it.
Sadly for Moore, the police appear to be trying to move his encampment, with officers and a “homeless outreach team from Healthy Streets Operations Center” swinging by to take away “bikes and other items that Moore willingly gave up.” From here, they seem to just be hoping that he’ll pick up and move somewhere else.
Also, he apparently got into a fight with one of the parents at the school, leading to a misdemeanor battery charge. With characters like these, it’s no wonder why San Francisco is one of the most expensive places to live in the country!
