The world of extreme sports was rocked today with the heart-breaking news of DC Shoes co-founder, skater, car enthusiast, and multiple X-game medal winner Ken Block's death, at age 55 on January 2nd, 2023.
After selling his ownership in DC Shoes, Block launched Hoonigan Industries, an automotive media and apparel company based out of Long Beach, California. The company posted the following message on its website and social media channels after the news of Block's death broke.
The Wasatch County sheriff's department in Utah reported that Block had been riding a snowmobile in the Mill Hollow area. Block was climbing up a very steep hill when unexpectedly his snowmobile upended and landed on top of him. Sadly, Block was declared dead at the scene of the accident. Block had been on social media posting and sharing videos as well as tweets very recently before the accident.

This is how some mornings at my ranch in Utah look this time of year – freshly coated with snow! Luckily we have the Ski-doo sleds, @CanAm Mavericks (one on tracks!) and Defender, and the Kubota machinery to dig us out and keep the property maintained. pic.twitter.com/LXJG1A6yPr

Check out some of the extreme, badass, and amazing Ken Block videos from the GymKhana series that we've featured over the years.
There are some videos of the alleged accident / last video footage from the incident but we will not be sharing those clips out of respect to the family as well as their authenticity has not been verified.
