Is it just me, or are flamethrowers a little too easy to get?

Case in point: Recently, a video from the St. Charles Republican Central Community's Freedom Fest in Defiance, Missouri went viral. The clip shows Missouri state senators Bill Eigel and Nick Schroer with flamethrowers burning a pile of boxes. As they do, someone off camera says “Let’s go, Brandon” — a dead meme, but hey, it makes them happy.

Even though what this *really* was was a couple of guys trying to compensate for a lifetime of getting shoved into lockers, liberals assumed the worst. This was not a simple display of feigned masculinity! This was the onset of the Fourth Reich — and the men were not burning boxes, but books! Oh, the humanity!

Of course, the men weren’t actually burning books. But in their hubris, they couldn’t just take the victory lap of calling out the lies of the “liberal media.” No — instead of just owning the W, Eigel put out a statement saying that, though he wasn’t burning books at this particular moment, he was totally down to do so in the future.

“In a video that is being widely circulated of me at the St. Charles County Freedom Fest, I am taking a flamethrower to cardboard boxes representing what I am going to do to the leftist policies and RINO corruption of the Jeff City swamp,” his statement reads. “But let's be clear, you bring those woke, pornographic books to Missouri schools to try to brainwash our kids, and I'll burn those too — on the front lawn of the governor's mansion.”

For context, the state of Missouri passed a law last year that demanded books with “explicit sexual material” be removed from schools — a law that banned such “woke, pornographic books” as illustrated adaptations of Shakespeare and books about the Holocaust. It’s not like children read in the first place, but c’mon guys, this is a bad look.

Nothing fire about it at all, actually.
