Much has been made of locker-room talk, the kinds of conversations men will have in locker rooms when nobody else is around, but has anyone ever stopped to consider what on-the-court-talk might sound like? Better yet, what it might sound like when women engage in it but don’t realize they’re mic’d up?

Seattle Storm guard Skylar Diggins-Smith became the overnight face of this kind of talk recently after she was caught telling Los Angeles Sparks guard Kia Nurse, “My pussy’s old,” in a video from a pre-season game that went viral this week.

Nurse was telling Diggins-Smith, “I’m 28 now, I’m almost 30,” which is what prompted Diggins-Smith to respond how she did, at which point Nurse covered the mic on her chest and shouted, “I’m wearing a mic! Stop talking!”

Fortunately, Diggins-Smith didn’t seem alarmed by the fact Nurse had a mic on, with some arguing that she may have known that and said what she did just to mess with Nurse. Others couldn’t believe that the video was real, although many were quick to point out that women do indeed have conversations like this, they just don’t usually take place when one party is wearing a microphone and both parties are on a professional basketball court.

Most people seem to be taking the leak in good fun, although at least one commenter cautioned Diggins-Smith on her most recent Instagram post, writing, “You might as well turn the comments off because here ‘they’ come in regards to your leaked audio!”
