Sometimes we wish (or pray) for things that we would have been better off not wishing for.  For example, you may have wished and wished to sleep with that hot chick or hot guy and finally your wish came true... only to find out later that you've contracted AIDS.

Sometimes people wish for great power or great riches (or both) and when their wish comes true things aren't exactly what they were hoping for.  This is one such example.
