So California has changed its mind and decided that same sex marriage should not be legal.  What is it with harshing on the queers?  As a straight, married man, I could not give a shit less if gays get married.  When I lived in Texas, the vote on gay marriage (which obviously never had a chance) generated more shit under my windshield wiper, phone calls, and unsolicited emails than any other voting issue in my adult life.  California’s Prop 8 was the most expensive state legislative issue of all time.  Mormons and minorities (70% of voting blacks apparently) showed up in force to shut down gay marriage. 

What are the arguments against gay marriage?  The Bible says it’s wrong?  So what?  The bible says all sorts of crazy shit.  Most of the things that can be construed as anti-gay in the bible are in there with prohibitions against shell fish or having sex with my wife while she’s on her period.  It threatens traditional marriage?  Not mine.  I don’t give a shit if you want to marry an end table.  You’re not fucking up my marriage. 

Think of all the other issues people could be stressing out about and dumping their cash into.  So is spending all this time and effort because two gay people who love each other very much and want to spend the rest of their lives together really what’s wrong with this country today?

So maybe the thought of gay sex does gross me out.  The thought of sex between two old and fat heterosexuals grosses me out too.  That doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be allowed the same rights and status as my attractive wife and I.
