The creator of #OscarsSoWhite has started a new campaign on Twitter, with hashtag #NoConfederate targeting HBO's new show 'Confederate', created by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

    The show fictionally accounts the rise of the South in an alternate universe where the Confederacy had won the Civil War. 'Confederacy' follows the rise of the Southern states and how slavery has turned into a modern day big business.

The hashtag of #NoConfederate has stormed twitter and even received an official response from HBO, stating:

    "We have great respect for the dialogue and concern being expressed around 'Confederate,'"... "We have faith that Nichelle, Dan, David, and Malcolm will approach the subject with care and sensitivity. The project is currently in its infancy so we hope that people will reserve judgment until there is something to see."

Only time will tell if 'Confederate' will be a breakout hit from the creators of 'Game of Thrones', but it will be interesting to see how the backlash will play out.
