Residence
Camilla said this.
Emilio, as you know, is one of my friends. He's a merchant's son. Emilio's father has got a large residence situated on a hill. In the house is a beautiful atrium. In the middle of the atrium is a pool filled with water. The atrium's roof over the pool is open. Beyond the atrium is a peristyle ornated with many columns and statues. All coming here can admire spuming fountains. Around the atrium are many cubicles. For Emilio there is a small cubicle. Here he's got many books and a couch. Here he reads, writes and paints.
Guests often visit the house. In the house's garden are many large verdant trees. The flowers' colours are red, white and yellow. The janitor watches the gate. He salutes and lets the lord's friends inside. Emilio's father has many servants working in the farmland. One of the servants whose name is Number Five daily leads Emilio to school. Number Five carries Emilio's heavy case, full of books and sharp styluses.
All servants and servant girls have supper with Emilio's father and mother. They eat bread, meat, cheese, olives and seeds and drink mild wine. Afterwards the father often dictates writers' short epistles. In the library are large innumerable volumes.
