So in my neighborhood, we have tons of feral cats, and we see them just about every day, and we just kindof ignore them. Sometimes my neighbors and I'll put food out or something, but otherwise we let them be.

But yesterday I heard that there's a new kitten around here, and she's sick as hell. My upstairs neighbor Linda said that I should try and get her because it looks like she's been abandoned by the mother.

We were gonna try and catch her and bring her to a non-killing shelter nearby to help her out and get her a home...Maybe even mine.

So I went outside yesterday and I ended up grabbing her at first, but she bit me, and it hurt like hell and it bled, so I ended up letting her go and I cleaned the crap out of the cut, put a bandaid on, and tried again. This time, with a thick towel.

Linda and I couldn't get her, so we gave up for the day unless we could get to her without her running under the cars.

Now THIS morning, it's pouring horribly out, and as I'm typing this, we just had a brown out for a second.

But anywho, I went out back with a big hoodie on, and I had the towel again, and I looked under Linda's daughter's car, and there she was - just sitting underneath it against the curb. It was really sad to see because she has a little discharge in her eyes, and you can see her bones and everything, and it really made me want to cry, but I didn't.

I couldn't reach her, so I tried to get a long stick to coax her out to the other side where I can grab her. Well, I couldn't reach her enough, and she ran off to the middle of the underside where I can't get her.

It just makes me sad.

When I picked her up yesterday, I could feel her ribs, and she made the most horrible sound like it hurt to be held.

And as lame as it may sound, I'm almost crying just typing this.

I want to help her so bad, but I just can't get close enough.

And if I were to get her, I can bring her in my laundry room and dry her off and clean her and all that, and give her some food.

But it hurts that she just looks like she could die any day now, and I want to help her. I really do.
