Well I''ve got to share my recent experiences with the most damned unusual telemarketing campaign I have ever rin into.

I have to start with a little background. Growing up as a boy my mom searched for a church and or religion that felt right for her (and by osmosis us kids). In the period from about 8 -14 yrs we were catholics, jehovahs witnesses, baptists, mormons, and about any other western christian dogma you can describe. So what does this have to do with telemarketing?

Well over 20 years after the fact I have been getting calls form the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints (Hereon referred to as mormons). It seems that at the age of 11 I was baptised as a Mormon and once you join that particular club You can never quit (kind of like the crips and the bloods, huh?).

I have been receiving calls about once a week from the mormon recruiting comittee reminding me that I am a baptised mormon and it is time for the prodigal son to rejoin the flock. These guys just won't take no for an answer I mean Jesus Christ I have tried everything form not answering any unrecognized #'s (tough to do when you travel for a living) to out right saying I'm just not interested any more. Nothing works! These guys even went so far as to tell me that if I wanted the calls to cease I would have to write out a statement renouncing my baptism and they would come to my house to collect it. What the Fuck? I mean that's like telling MCI or the NY times to start you subscription right away.

I hate to admit it but I finally got fed up and told them (utilizing some rather inflammatory language) to just leave me alone and that I would never go back to the fold (especially after their tactics). It's times like these that I'm glad I am at peace with myself and the state of my soul.
