The 54 Million Dollar pair of pants.
I am not sure how many of you remember this or even if heard but a while back an administrative law judge sued a dry cleaner for 54 million dollars over a pair of pants. The former judge Roy Pearson's case did not hold up in court and of course he was awarded nothing. Turns out, this mother fucker is back for ROUND TWO FOOLS. He has now taken the case to the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. He is claiming that the lawsuit isn't about the pants(which is BS) but actually about the principal of good business and misrepresentation.
According to Roy Pearson, this case is about whether the owners of a neighborhood business misled consumers with a sign that says, "Satisfaction Guaranteed." (He didn't get his pants back so he wants 54 million for not being satisfied?) He said, "There is an unconditional guarantee," he argues that that unconditional guarantee stands unless otherwise posted by the merchant(what a tool this guy is). According to Pearson the sign is deceptive and now the owners must carry the burden of all the consumers that have passed through the doors of their lucrative dry cleaning operation.
The first time that pearson sued was in 2005, that time he sued for 67 million. He claimed that they had lost a pair of trousers from a $1000 dollar suit (I still dont see how that adds up to 67 million). Superior Court Judge ruled against him and he was awarded nothing. The District of Columbia Court of Appeals is expected to rule in a few months and will most likely rule against Pearson in this frivolous lawsuit.
This case has destroyed to dry cleaners business. They have had to sell the business to pay for the legal fees required to defend themselves in a case like this. Roy Pearson was not reappointed to his judgeship after filing this obsurd case.
Where does Roy Pearson think this 54 Million Dollars is going to come from if he wins? That is what I want to know.
Any thoughts you guys?
