What Is The Neuraminidase Galactose Oxidase?

uploads1628458507949-What+is+NGO%3F.jpgNeuraminidase Galactose Oxidase is an enzyme that can be found in the human body.

It is a glycosyl hydrolase enzyme that catalyzes the degradation of sialic acid to produce neuraminic acid and galactose.

It is also known as N-acetylneuraminic acid hydroxylase  or abbreviated as NAALADASE and CD23.

It can be found in any cell that contains glycoproteins with terminal sialic acid residues, such as red blood cells, certain cancer cells, and most other animal cells.

The main function of this enzyme is to degrade the sialic acids on cell surfaces, which are important for cellular recognition and immune response.

There is mounting evidence that neuraminidases may have antiviral properties. Also you can continue..
