Where's Mommy? - Poem
age when written: 26
Where's Mommy?
As I look into her eyes, my hearts all a flutter
How do I explain, the concept of "Mother"
To a child so sweet, so kind, and deserving
The only answers I have, seem so unnerving.
The trading of one life, to allow for another
So damn unfair, to any child, sister, brother.
When nothing we say, do, or obtain...
Can make up for the absence, or stop all the pain
The night my life changed, and took a new path
a night full of sorrow, and joy, and gods wrath.
The birth of my daughter, the death of my wife.
To allow for her future, she gave up her life.
3 long years later, into her eyes I stare
With no answer that comforts, my soul is made bare.
"Your mommies in Heaven..." Just isn't enough
To explain why this perfect little girl should be tough.
"In a better place..." or "Watching from up there"
Won't tell my little sweety, how much her mom cared.
I can't seem to find, a way to make her feel strong...
When everyone else, has a dad and a MOM.
One day she'll grow up, and finally see...
What her mommy gave up, so she could be here with me.
When what her daddy had lost, had hurt just as much...
The only comfort she left, was this little girls touch.
Her blue eyes so soft, and full of hard questions
At night daddy cries, when her mommy she mentions...
But around her he's strong, and explains best he can
That she will always have daddy, and all of his loving clan.
One night long ago, god came down to say...
A gift I shall give, but another take away.
If I had the choice, I would have given my own
So the question "Wheres Mommy..." would need never be known...
Namaste
