You call that a favor?
True story. Several years ago a guy I knew, Jeff, took it upon himself to test the fidelity of another guy's fiance. The guy's name was Mark. Now, I don't know all the details of how it came to be but Jeff ended up having sex with Mark's fiance. When Mark found out he was, understandably, very upset. Of course, Mark confronted him and demanded an explanation. Here's where it really got interesting, in my opinion. Jeff told Mark that, because he's such a good friend, he felt it necessary to test his fiance. Jeff suspected that she was the type who would cheat and so he thought it would be better to prove it before they got married. So, he suduced her, and that was that. Jeff explained that he did Mark a favor. After all, isn't it better to learn your fiance is a skank before you get married? He was causing Mark a little heartache now but saving him from even more heartache in the future because it was inevitable that she would cheat. Now, when I first heard that I was floored. How do you justify your actions with reasons like that? But, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that in a sick, twisted way, Jeff had a point. I didn't say it was a good point, but he did have a point. I'm certainly not condoning his actions.
When all the dust had settled, Mark forgave Jeff. I've lost contact with both of them so I don't know if they are still friends. I do know one thing though, I would have kicked both of them to the curb. A guy just doesn't need friends like that.
