Elvis Presley: Major Bill Smith filed a lawsuit against the King of Rock and Roll in 1993. Why? According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Smith claimed that Presley’s estate makes way too much money maintaining Presley’s death, but as he insisted, “There’s no bit of proof that Elvis is dead.” He claimed to have met with Presley several times since his ‘demise.’ Smith produced some of Presley’s early work as well as promoted concerts. He also wrote a book called Memphis Mystery: Elvis…The Man and the Myth, in which he says Presley faked his death, of course. He sought $50,000 in damages, and also asked that the Presley estate stop making fun of him for the book. -

Sacha Baron Cohen: Although his comedy seems like it would be pissing people off from left to right, Cohen committed the ultimate offense when interrupted a bingo game, or at least that’s what Richelle Olson claimed in her 2009 lawsuit against Cohen. She said that in 2007, Cohen, who was filming Bruno at the time, used vulgar language and started an altercation that gave Olson brain damage. Universal Studios submitted footage of the alleged incident, in which Cohen could be heard telling vulgar jokes. Some of the elderly audience was laughing, except for Olson, who shouted, “I will not have anyone make a mockery of this bingo hall!” No altercations took place, and Cohen and Universal won the lawsuit due to the First Amendment. -

Pope Benedict XVI: An unnamed German citizen got really pissed when the Pope neglected to wear his seatbelt in the Popemobile while visiting Freiburg in 2011. He filed a suit as a result , but only for the appropriate fine for violating the country’s seatbelt laws: about $3,300. The suit got thrown out on the grounds that the street on which the Pope travelled was closed to traffic during his visit. -
4.
Prince: Former Utah Jazz player Carlos Boozer sued Prince in 2006 because he painted Boozer’s mansion, which he was renting for $70,000 a month at the time, purple. Yes, purple. Of course, Boozer did not give him permission to do so. Despite this, Boozer still accepted 2 months rent from Prince after the alterations, with no objection. Boozer later dropped the case after Prince wrote him a big fat check for an undisclosed amount. -
5.
Mila Kunis: Aspiring singer Kristina Karo filed a lawsuit against Kunis claiming that when she and Kunis were children living in the Ukraine, Kurnis stole Karo’s pet chicken. Over the decades, Karo said she forgot about the incident, but when she moved to the US and found that she was living near Kunis, the traumatic moment came back to her. She said she found herself unable to pursue the American dream and required therapy, and was seeking $5,000 for emotional trauma and psychiatric costs. However, she dropped the suit after her therapist taught her to forgive. -
6.
The Simpsons: Well, nobody sued the actual cartoon family per say, but the producers of the show and Fox did face a lawsuit. Frank Sivero, who appeared in Goodfellas and The Godfather Part 2, claimed that Fat Tony’s henchman Louie is based on him. The suit alleged that while developing his Goodfellas character in 1989, the writers from The Simpsons lived in the apartment right next to his. He claimed they were aware of him developing the character and used what they knew to create Louie. Severe sought $250 million, but lost the case. -
7.
Taylor Swift: In 2015, Swift began selling shirts with the words “Lucky 13” on them. She says she has a strong association with the number, saying “Basically whenever a 13 comes up in my life, it’s a good thing.” The problem was that there’s already a company selling t-shirts called Lucky 13, and it filed an understandable trademark infringement suit. However, it gets weird when owner Robert Kloetzly accused Swift of using her sex appeal to target customers and draw them away from his line. The worst part is that Kloetzly filed discovery requests demanding he be given pictures of Swift’s “partially visible” chest and backside….gross. -
8.
Sean “Diddy” Combs: Valerie Turks filed a $1 TRILLION lawsuit against Combs, claiming that he fathered a child with her 24 years prior and stole a casino chip from her that was worth “100 zillions of dollars,” according to The Guardian. Even better, in her lawsuit, Turks also accused Combs of masterminding the September 11th attacks with Kim Porter and Rodney King, and asked for a restraining order against Combs for this reason. Of the $1 trillion, $900 billion is for back child support, and rest is for lost wages. -
9.
David Blaine and David Copperfield: A fellow illusionist struck with jealous filed suits against both of the Davids in 2005, accusing them of stealing his godly powers. Roller has apparently said, “I am a deity, a messenger of god.” He claims the only way Blaine and Copperfield can perform their tricks is by stealing his power. Roller sought $50 million from Copperfield, but only $2 million from Blaine, since he hadn’t been performing as long as Copperfield. -
