These are not only the existing Fallout games but also those that are considered "fallout family" and those that despite the effort were cancelled. -
2.
Wasteland. The History of Fallouts begins 9 years before Fallout itself, in 1988 with the game "Wasteland" created by the people who later created Fallout. The game is set in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic America that was destroyed by nuclear bombs; game was developed by Interplay Productions and published by Electronic Arts for the Apple II, Commodore 64 and DOS in 1988 and re-released for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux in 2013 via Steam and in 2014 via Desura. -
3.
Fountain of Dreams. Wasteland was supposed to be followed by a sequel but after quarrels with the producers there were two sequels none of them called "Wasteland 2". "Fountain of Dreams" is a 1990 role-playing video game developed and published by Electronic Arts for MS-DOS as a successor to 1988's Wasteland; it was not made by the same people and was not as popular. -
4.
Meantime. Besides the game created by EA there was a game made by actual creators of Wasteland, but because of many problems it was cancelled. -
5.
Fallout. Brian Fargo lost the rights to Wasteland, so he created a similar game called "Fallout" in 1997. It was a post-nuclear rpg with only one character, unlike Wasteland in which you played as a group of Rangers. -
6.
Fallout 2. Released in 1998, it was basically a better version of Fallout, The game's story takes place in 2241, 80 years after the events of Fallout. It tells the story of the original hero's descendant and his or her quest to save their primitive tribe from starvation by finding an ancient environmental restoration machine known as the GECK. -
7.
Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel. It is a turn-based/real-time tactical role-playing game set in the post-apocalyptic Fallout universe. Developed by Micro Forté and published by 14 Degrees East, Fallout Tactics was released on 14 March 2001 for Microsoft Windows. The game follows a squad in the fictional Brotherhood of Steel as it becomes engaged in a desperate war. Although the game takes place in the Fallout universe, it does not follow or continue the story of either Fallout or Fallout 2. Unlike the previous two Fallout games, Fallout Tactics emphasizes tactical combat and strategy. -
8.
Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel. It is an action role-playing game developed and produced by Interplay for the Xbox and PlayStation 2. Released on January 14, 2004, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel was the fourth video game to be set in the Fallout universe and the first to be made for consoles. The game chronicles the adventures of an initiate in the fictional Brotherhood of Steel, a militant religious organization that has come to power in a post-apocalyptic world. Both Interplay Entertainment and Bethesda consider the game to not be a part of Fallout's canon because of its poor reception. -
9.
Van Buren. "Van Buren" was the project name Black Isle Studios assigned to their version of Fallout 3. The game was going to use an engine that Black Isle had made for Baldur's Gate 3, commonly referred to as the Jefferson Engine. It was a fully 3D engine, but was never used. Black Isle Studios planned to include a dual-combat system in the game that allowed for the player to choose real-time (like Fallout 3 or Fallout Tactics) or turn-based combat (like Fallout 1 & 2). Due to Interplay's demands though, Joshua Sawyer had stated that the emphasis would be on the turn-based version. Co-operative multiplayer was also going to be included in the game, again because of publisher requirements. In 2003, the game was canceled due to Bethesda buying the rights to the Fallout franchise, and the Black Isle employees were laid off. At that time, the engine was about 95% done. The player could create characters, use skills, perform both ranged and melee combat, save/load games and travel across maps. A tutorial level was done that would let the designers do all of the above. All areas but one had been designed. About 75% of the dialogue was done and at least 50% of the maps. Black Isle Studios already had many of the character models and monster models. -

Fallout 3. About 10 yeas after Fallout 2, Fallout 3 comes out on 28th of October 2008. It is an action role-playing open world video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios, and they claim it's the third major installment in the Fallout series. This one lets go of the isometric perspective and is a First (or Third) Person Shooter. -
11.
Fallout: New Vegas. Released in October 2010 this game was made by Obsidian Entertainment but using game mechanics made entirely by Bethesda Game Studios. Some say it's a far better game than Fallout 3, other say it's a big add-on cause Obsidian just added few quests and dialogues on an existing game. -
12.
Wasteland 2. The history went full circle- having lost the rights to Fallout franchise Brian Fargo returns to his first creation. Gamers say this is a great game with a feel of retro. -
13.
Fallout Shelter. Released for IOS on June 14, 2015 to increase the hype for Fallout 4 has been a huge success. The game despite being "free-to-play" brought Bethesda a lot of money from micro transactions. -
14.
Fallout 4. "Fallout 4" is an upcoming game being developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth major installment in the Fallout series, and will be released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 10, 2015. Are you ready to return to the wasteland?
