1.
If you have things you work on. Make a tool bag or box for those tools that go with it. I started years ago building tool kits with all the extra tools from years. Truck, bicycle, dirt bike, guns, household, etc all have their own tool kits. Hardly ever have to go looking for a tool to something. -
2.
Floss before you brush. I realized that when flossing after I brushed, I was less motivated to do so because my mouth already felt clean. Flossing first gets it done but you of course still brush your teeth after. If you use a waterpik, get the cordless one and do it in the shower. Way less messy (and the mess was demotivating my use of it). -
3.
Making To Do Lists. Ever since I have started using them I have been more calmer and organized. I am no longer stressed about remembering all the things that I have to do, and I can move them about based on the changing circumstances. It helps me focus on doing rather than remembering. -
4.
Windows shortcuts. I work on a computer all day for work and every little bit helps. Each can save over the long haul which makes for a significant change depending on its function and how it can improve your workflow/productivity. I still come across people every now and then that didn't know Alt tabbing was a thing, or that windows and L can lock your computer. I don't even know that many, or don't utilize some as much as I should like increasing and decreasing font size when writing essays. Hell, I just learned the other month I could select multiple tabs in web browsers and you can reload all of them for those that use a select amount of websites for work all the time. -
5.
I wash sheets first then gather and sort laundry. That way I am not making my bed at 10 pm -
6.
I pin my socks together with diaper pins after I wear them. Then they come out of the dryer already matched. -
7.
I don’t drink and I never thought much of it for years. Recently went out with some friends who drink a lot and 50% of the dinner bill was alcohol. 2-3 drinks per meal really adds up over a year, even if you’re just drinking at home. -
8.
Video games are one of the cheapest hobbies you can have. It might be a few hundred dollars up front, but you can put a hundred hours into just one game, and pretty soon you’ve paid 5 cents an hour to have fun. -
9.
You can probably save a ton on laundry costs. Detergents have gotten really good and you can use an ounce or two to wash a whole load. The markers on the cap are designed to fool you into using a lot more than you need. Separating whites and colors is no longer necessary. Just wash everything on cold and dry it on delicate and your clothes will last a lot longer. -
10.
I always drive the speed limit, and use cruise control whenever possible, even at low speeds. I have a natural tendency to drive way too fast, and I got a bunch of tickets when I was first driving. This way of driving now makes me a safer driver, it avoids the possibility of wasting money on tickets and increased auto insurance, and I feel much calmer behind the wheel. When I first started doing this (25 years ago) I didn’t realize how much time I spent watching my rear view mirror for flashing lights. That was also adding stress to driving, since I was constantly on guard. -
11.
iPhone calendar. Every time I have a thing to do I enter it on my calendar. When I have an appointment, I set the alarm on iPhone for the time to leave. -
12.
Just learn to say 'NO', especially to peer pressure. you really have nobody to prove. when people say "You can't skip the circle mahn", just skip it and laugh! Especially when it comes to alcohol/drugs/whatever. you can be that guy who smokes 10 joints a day and still be active, and that guy who takes two drags and goes out of the world (and prolly get made fun of!); both in the same week. when you don't feel like it, don't do it. for everything in life. do own it. do understand the repercussions (don't go irresponsible about stuff). moment your intuition feels negative/bad/you-just-not-feeling-it, politely excuse yourself and leave. Just don't be around people for the sake of it. The number of days in my life that could have ended w a happy sunset if only I had not said 'yes' to some stupidass meaningless thing that my heart didn't want! Ugh! well. now I know. hope this serves you well :) -
13.
Get a tomato peeler. It's great to peel tomatoes... And everything else. It's so much better than any other peeler. Only issue is you get so addicted that when on holidays you sometimes ponder whether you should bring one with you. -
14.
Those little screen catchers that go in your kitchen sink. So much easier to rinse off the dinner plate than to stand there over the garbage scraping off individual grains of rice (or whatever) - and you can be confident nothing is going to clog your drain. How do people even rinse out their coffee filters/bodum without a screen sink catcher?? Are you just letting coffee grounds go down your drain? -
15.
Hot dog condiments on the bun first, then put the hot dog on top.
