CHED EVANS-In April 2012, former Sheffield United footballer Ched Evans was handed a prison sentence of five years for raping a 19-year-old woman. The ex-Welsh international has recently been released on parole and is seeking to kick-start his football career and is in talks with Oldham Athletic. -

LEE HUGHES-Former West Bromwich Albion footballer Lee Hughes was sent to jail for six years for causing death due to dangerous driving back in 2004. After his release he joined Oldham Athletic. -

MIKE TYSON-Boxer Mike Tyson, who was at one time the heavyweight champion, has served two separate sentences. In 1992 Tyson was convicted of rape and served three years in prison. Seven years later, the boxer was involved in a road rage incident where he assaulted two motorists, leading to nine months behind bars. -

OJ SIMPSON-Retired American football running back OJ Simpson, who played for the Buffalo Bills and the San Francisco 49ers, was given a nine to 39 year prison term for robbery and kidnapping. This was three years after his famous trial where he was tried for two counts of murder after the deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and waiter Ronald Lyle Goldman. -

OSCAR PISTORIUS-The Paralympian was handed a five year sentence for the culpable homicide of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. He began serving his time in October 2014. -

TIM MONTGOMERY AND MARION JONES-American athlete Tim Montgomery won the 4x100m relay at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. Seven years later, Montgomery was slapped with a 46 month long prison sentence for fraud and also got a separate sentence for drug distribution for a further five years. He is currently in prison and will serve one sentence after the other. His wife Marion Jones, who had won three gold medal at the Sydney Olympics before being stripped of them after admitting doping, received a six-month sentence for obstruction of justice and perjury for the same case. -

RUBIN 'HURRICANE' CARTER-Light-middleweight boxer Rubin Hurricane Carter was sent to prison for life for committing murder. Having spent 20 years behind bars, it was realised that he had been wrongfully sentenced and was eventually freed. Denzel Washington played the boxer in a 1999 Hollywood movie called The Hurricane. -

RIDDICK BOWE-Another boxer Riddick Bowe was found guilty of kidnapping his wife and kids and was convicted for 18 months. -

PLAXICO BURRESS-The former Super Bowl champion, who won the title with the New York Giants, was convicted for two years after he was caught with possession of a weapon after accidentally shooting himself. -

MOHAMMAD AMIR, MOHAMMAD ASIF AND SALMAN BUTT-Pakistani cricketers Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt were found guilty of spot-fixing and were involved in a conspiracy to cheat at gambling and accept corrupt payments. Amir, who was just 17 at the time, was given a six-month long sentence at the Young Offenders Institution. Asif and Butt were handed 12 month and 30 month sentences respectively. -

TONYA HARDING-Tonya Harding, a figure skater, has been given three sentences at different points of her life. The first was three years probation for hindering a police investigation. The other two times, she was caught driving under the influence and was handed a three day and 10 day prison sentence respectively. -

CHRIS LEWIS-A cricketer who represented England in 32 Test matches, Chris Lewis was jailed for 13 years after being involved in a drug smuggling case. -

NASEEM HAMED-The featherweight who went by the nickname Prince was sentenced to 15 months in prison for dangerous driving and was also slapped with a four year long driving ban. -

BERNARD HOPKINS-An 18 year long sentence was given to boxer Bernard Hopkins for being involved in a strong-arm robbery. He served 56 months. -
15.
RAE CARRUTH-NFL wide-receiver Rae Carruth was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder in 2001. The former Carolina Panthers player was jailed for 24 years for the crime. -

LESTER PIGGOTT-Professional jockey Lester Piggot was hit with a three year conviction for tax evasion in 1987. -

JOEY BARTON-Known for his aggressive playing style on the pitch, Queens Park Rangers footballer Joey Barton has been convicted twice of assault. The first one resulted in a six month sentence, while the second was four months for an assault on fellow player Ousmane Dabo. He was given the second sentence while he was serving the first. -

MICHAEL VICK-The New York Jets quarterback was found guilty of a conspiracy related to dog fighting in 2007. Then playing for the Atlanta Falcons, he was handed a 23 month jail sentence and an indefinite ban from the NFL. -

ALLEN IVERSON-When Iverson used to play for Bethel High School in Hampton, Virginia, he was slapped with a five year ban for maiming by mob. Four months into the sentence, Iverson was pardoned. -
20.
SONNY LISTON-Former heavyweight champion Sonny Liston was convicted of robbery in his youth, before becoming a professional boxer. Liston received a prison sentence of five years in 1950.
