Let the punishment fit the crime... sometimes literally. In the following cases, judges handed out some super weird (but appropriate) punishments to those who broke the law.

1.
A Night in the Woods A woman told a judge that 35 kittens were left on her doorstep and she abandoned them in a local park because she "didn't know what to do with them". Nine of the kittens later died. After asking her how she thought it would feel to be abandoned all alone in the woods overnight like that, the judge sentenced her to spend a night in the woods alone. -
2.
The Idiot Sign A woman was driving down the street when she was stuck behind a school bus. Instead of waiting, she drove around it on the sidewalk. The judge in her case made her stand on a street corner holding a sign that read, “Only an idiot would drive on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus.” -
3.
The Mandatory Vasectomy A man named Jessie Lee Herald committed some crimes that fell under "reckless endangerment", but part of his plea deal included getting a vasectomy since he had 7 children with 6 women. The judge thought preventing him from having any more kids would force him to take care of the ones that he already had. (This punishment should happen more often.) -
4.
Pepper Spray A woman named Diamond was arrested for pepper spraying somebody, so the judge gave her the option of spending 30 days in jail or having the victim pepper spray her back. She chose the latter, but the judge had the pepper switched out with plain water. -
5.
Taxi Walk A woman named Victoria E. Bascom failed to pay her taxi driver for her 30 mile cab ride, so the judge forced her to walk the entire distance of the ride.
