Guys call themselves Tico, girls Tica and both Tici. The outlanders are called Gringo and unlike in Mexico this is not an insult. -

They say there are 112 volcanoes there with blue lagoons. The water looks nice but it is surprisingly cold and unhealthy; plus it's full of mud. -

Costa Rica has a lot of scorpions and snakes which... love shoes. Seriously, the first you should do before putting your shoes on in Costa Rica is checking the shoes for unwanted guests. -

Look out for monkeys. They are hungry, they travel in large amounts and have no respect for your property or yourself. If you will foolishly eat something in front of one monkey you will soon be followed by a dozen hungry monkeys. -

Don't swim in the rivers. The rivers are full of crocodiles, which are illegal to kill BTW, and the rivers are full of strong currents so if nobody tells you it is a safe place- DON'T GO IN THE WATER. -

In Costa Rica you can't import or export plants, fruit, vegetables or animals. Also not only crocodiles are protected by law, you can also get n trouble for killing some poisonous snakes; no joke. -

Costa Ricans have a temper. They can call you their best friend the moment they see you and promise things that are simply not possible cause they like to exaggerate, punctuality isn't something they know or like. Remember that even though there is no perfect place, Costa Rica is such a warm place right now.
