The story starts when a three-year-old boy named Keaton was placed in a wheelchair because of Spinal Muscular Atrophy. That year, Keaton wanted to be a pirate for Halloween. His dad, Ryan “The Dude” Weimer thought:That’s when Dad built a ship for his son around the wheelchair. Like a boss. What’s a pirate without a ship? -

Seven years later, Keaton has two brothers and Weimer has a nonprofit called Magic Wheelchair. Crews work for up to 200 hours on a wheelchair so children can celebrate Halloween in grand style. The full costumes have included Mario Kart, a huge dinosaur, and even a Frozen Castle. -
