Not so long ago Lauren Cronin was taking off her clothes for money. She quit to follow a new career that quickly made her famous.

Lauren Cronin, 31, from Surrey, quit her job earning £70-an-hour on X-rated TV channel Babestation to create custom-made rag dolls that look like people's photos. She wanted to make a unique gift for her friends' wedding. 'I'd never really sewn anything before but I've always been quite creative, so I just decided to wing it and use photos of my friends for inspiration. 'I was worried the bride and groom might find them creepy, but they loved them!' -

Using a photo of each client to create a stuffed muslin doll, she paints on facial features and uses synthetic - sometimes real - hair. Her dolls range between £39 for a Yo Girl and £109 for Yo Weddings. -

As her business increased in popularity, the ex-glamour model started custom-making celebrity-inspired dolls including a 'Katie Price' and 'Keith Lemon' version. -

Lauren believes her idea has captured people's imaginations because of the growing popularity of selfies. She said: 'I guess people are obsessed with taking selfies and uploading them to social media, so this is just the next step'
