29 Celebs With High Profile Beef
Though Rebel Wilson’s book Rebel Rising is months away from hitting shelves, it has already sparked quite the star-studded controversy. Over the weekend, Wilson headed to Instagram with a sneak peek of what her memoir would entail, revealing that Sacha Baron Cohen was the mystery d-bag prominently featured in one chapter.
“I will not be bullied or silenced by high-priced lawyers or PR crisis managers. The ‘a—hole’ that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my books is: Sacha Baron Cohen,” she wrote in a now-viral Instagram story.
While Baron Cohen’s spokesperson did their damndest to get in front of the unfolding drama, insisting that the actress’ claims are “demonstrably false,” they are far from the first stars to take their drama from on-set to social media.
From the classic Hollywood feud between Joan Crawford and Bette Davis to Taylor Swift and Kanye West’s ongoing beef, here are 20 celebrities with high-profile drama, as recounted by Reddit.

1. Joan Crawford and Bette Davis
“‘The best time I ever had with Joan Crawford was when I pushed her down the stairs in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?’” F—king iconic.” — Fermifighter -
2. Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande
“I don't have all the receipts so I can't tell who started it or not. But there was something about Ariana getting paid more than Jennette for the exact same work. Ariana denied this and shortly after that, [a] rumor their show was canceled [began spreading]. Ariana went her own way and turned herself into the major pop star that she is today. Jennette felt kind of betrayed and then there was some catfighting (no pun intended). But as of today, as far as I know, they're cool with each other.” —Jailhousepoop -
3. Kanye West and Taylor Swift
“Kanye vs. Taylor: At the time of the VMA incident, I wasn't all that familiar with Taylor and hadn't heard many of her songs. But I remember thinking how cruel it was for Kanye to take that moment away from her. If I had been in Taylor's shoes, I'm honestly not sure how well I might've been able to hold things together, stay calm and professional, and not burst into tears.” —sabira -
4. Roger Ebert and Vincent Gallo
“A war of words then erupted between Gallo and film critic Roger Ebert, with Ebert writing that The Brown Bunny was the worst film in the history of Cannes, and Gallo retorting by calling Ebert a "fat pig with the physique of a slave trader." Paraphrasing a statement attributed to Winston Churchill, Ebert responded with, "It is true that I am fat, but one day I will be thin, and he will still be the director of The Brown Bunny." Gallo then claimed to have put a hex on Ebert's colon, cursing the critic with cancer. In response, Ebert quipped that watching a video of his colonoscopy had been more entertaining than watching "The Brown Bunny.” —missdeweydell -
5. Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson
“Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson. They were good friends and did that corny duet together. Then MJ outbid Paul on the entire Beatles catalog as well as Paul’s own original birth certificate at auction.” — _Bogey_Lowenstein_ -
6. Debbie Reynolds and Elizabeth Taylor
“Debbie Reynolds and Elizabeth Taylor. Best of friends for years (beginning in high school) even when Hollywood tried to make them rivals. Taylor's third husband died in a plane crash; Reynold's husband Eddie Fisher provided Taylor a lot of emotional support in the wake of the death. Soon they were carrying on an affair; Reynolds found out when she called Taylor late at night in her hotel room, and Fisher picked up. (Reynolds famously said, "Roll over, darling, and let me speak to Elizabeth." Quel sang froid!)” — AliMcGraw -
7. Denise Richards and Heather Locklear
“Denise Richards and Heather Locklear falling out when Denise started dating Richie Sambora pretty soon after he & Heather announced their divorce was very very well-covered by People & the like” — dingiesaur -
8. Taylor Swift and Katy Perry
“The mainstream story is that Taylor hired some of Katy's dancers for her Red tour since Katy was not on tour. Katy and the dancers say that the dancers told Taylor that they would work for her until Katy went back on tour. Partway through the Red tour, the dancers left Taylor since Katy was going back on tour. All reports are that Taylor got upset at Katy for "stealing" the dancers and effectively damaging her tour since she needed to find new dancers halfway through the tour. Now the question to me has always been - Did Taylor know that the dancers were going to leave and/or did the dancers sign a contract for the whole tour or only part of a tour?” — ramblingasian -
9. Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker
“I think it was mostly due to unfair compensation. Samantha had the most s-x scenes and the most n—e scenes. And even still, she wasn’t asking to be compensated the most just because she was n—d half the time… she wanted all four of them to get equal pay, which I thought was really gracious. Now, I can see both sides of the coin. I agree that all four women should be compensated equally for their acting, but I still think SJP should be paid the most since she produced and wrote some of the episodes. Writers and producers deserve to be compensated as well, even if they also star in the show. KC knew her worth and she was definitely being undervalued by the crew, so she bounced. Can you blame her? By the end of the second movie, the writers turned Samantha’s character into a huge joke. It’s no wonder she wanted to put an end to Samantha so she could move on to other projects.” —eatapeach18 -
10. Betty White and Bea Arthur
“Bea Arthur and Betty White. Don’t know if I’d call it a feud exactly, but apparently, Bea was really annoyed by Betty’s cheery attitude. Reportedly, Bea even called Betty a c—t once, because of it.”—rumble-bee -
11. Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic
“People with very different personalities were cast opposite each other and while they were able to work together at first for a few seasons [on Castle], as time went on those differences or other issues popped up and became more and more of a problem until a breaking point was reached. Happened with some of the other shows I mentioned and it happened with Castle, ending in the train wreck we saw in Season 8. It's to Stana and Nathan's credit they were still able to give an amazing show despite their dislike of one another and how they refuse to give the media soundbites to work with as to not ruin the show for current and new fans.” —/Ninja108Zelda -
12. Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff
“The fact it was over Aaron Carter blows my mind. I remember being a kid and thinking he was super cute in the episode of Lizzie McGuire he was on but to warrant that massive conflict is just wild” —Curlingby -
13. Drake Bell and Josh Peck
“Drake and Josh. Although unclear how close they ever really were vs how much of it was public perception. Drake's tweets about not being invited to Josh's wedding were so embarrassing and it's kinda sad at the time how many people were on his side. Since then its only been bad news about that guy meanwhile Josh seems to be doing well.” — InternalFuel6486 -
14. Gwyneth Paltrow and Winona Ryder
“Gwyneth and Winona. Winona told Gwyneth that she was auditioning for Shakespeare in Love, so then Gwyneth auditioned and got the part Winona wanted. I think this was at the time they were dating Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.” — _Bogey_Lowenstein_ -
15. Will Ferrell and Adam McKay
“Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly and Adam McKay. They’ve done a ton of movies together: Talladega Nights, Stepbrothers, Anchorman. They had a huge falling out. It had to do with a HBO show. Adam McKay chose John C. Reilly to play a character on that show that Will Ferrell wanted to play. He cut them out for that.” —fatal_bacon
