When you're the first to land on the Moon people want to hear what you say so you should prepare something epic. But if you are the one of those who go to the Moon after a bunch of astronauts been there people don't care that much... -
2.
...or do they? John Young found out the hard way you should be careful what you say even if you think no one is listening. When Young landed on the Moon in 1972 he had a bad case of...farts. No joke. Young thought that only his colleagues hear him so he threw a tantrum how Florida fruit orange juice gave his gas and threw in a good bunch of "fuck" for good riddance. -
3.
But it turned out not only astronauts heard him. NASA heard him, people listening to the broadcast heard him, even governor of Florida heard him. Seriously governor of Florida, publicly said that Young should not badmouth Florida fruits. The whole speech was recorded and you can hear Young swearing, fortunately they had no microphone that sensitive to catch the farts. -

You think Young would have learned from the first time he had trouble in 1965. He was the same guy that almost destroyed space capsule with... a sandwich. You know NASA gives astronauts food and drinks that can cause minimum damage to the ship, but Young was unimpressed with the food so he smuggled his own. -

The Gemini III menu contained hot dogs, brownies, chicken legs and apple sauce, all contained in squeezy tubes or small packets. Each item was delicately packaged to save on space, improve on safety and convenience. The main point here was that it was to be a controlled scientific experiment. A little under two hours into the mission, just as the two astronauts were discussing the food that had been packed for them, Young produced a corned beef on rye sandwich from his flight suit pocket and presented it to his colleague surprised Commander Grissom. Young took a bite and shared it with Grissom only to see the reason why you shouldn't do that- crumbs. Crumbs were flying everywhere, and if they flew into electronics or blocked something it could be farewell to the astronauts. Needless to say NASA and Congress were not amused, and he was reprimanded. Also, a slew of new regulations were drawn up to prevent unsanctioned food from making it into space ever again.
