He went missing with Ezequiel Cordoba, after setting sail from Mexico for a fishing trip when a storm swept them 6,700, miles from shore. -

They both allegedly survived by eating birds and fish and drinking rainwater. Unfortunately, one of the birds made Cordoba sick, and eventually killed him. -

Alvarenga says he kept his promise as long as he could, but when the corpse started to talk back to him, he believed it was time to throw it overboard. He was losing his mind. -

Before he died, he made Alvarenga promise that he will keep his corpse and give it to his mother. -

Miraculously, Alvarenga managed to survive. His boat floated onto a reef at Ebon Atoll, where he was found by locals who helped him clean up. -
