Obviously there are some musicians out there who pride themselves on the spectacle and entertainment aspects of a live concert.

That's great. I'm not knocking any band or artist who wants to make an entire production out of a tour, that's awesome. But we shouldn't forget what draws people to shows in the first place. They want to hear the music. So when a musician goes of the rails a bit, the internet takes notice.
