For the uninitiated, the "Trolley Problem" is a famous thought experiment in ethics wherein the observer has to make a choice between two undesirable outcomes.

The basic premise is this: a speeding trolley car is headed for a track with multiple people on it (who will all be killed). You could divert it to a track with a single person, who will also be killed. Saving the 5 people seems to be the obvious choice, but it also means *you* are directly responsible for the decision to kill that one person on the alternate track.
