It would have been one of the dumbest plane crashes yet.
If you haven’t been paying attention to aviation news, you might not know that we recently narrowly avoided a major accident. The reason for this near-miss? A kite.
According to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, officers originally became concerned after there were reports of kite-flying near Reagan airport. The agency says that kite-flying is prohibited in the area due to the risk it can pose to low-flying aircraft.
It turns out, that regulation is warranted, as one of these kits made its way all the way up to a plane and hit it. Thankfully, nothing happened, but experts warned that, had the kite been sucked into an engine, it could have caused engine failure. Thank goodness that didn’t happen, I guess.
Trump's air traffic control allows plane to fly straight into a kite in "scary" near crash.

This is no joke—audio reveals the kite was spotted on flight path—but pilot was not given orders to change course.
