Russian Airport Worker Caught De-Icing Plane with a Cone
That’s one way to do it.
If you think things are bad at American airports, you don’t want to know what Russia’s going through right now. Ever since the beginning of their “special operation” in Ukraine, companies from around the world have pulled out of Russia. While some companies made headlines with their departure, others were largely ignored in the West — even though the consequences of these departures have been pretty severe for the Russian people.
For example, most flights being flown by Russian airlines are performed in either Boeing or Airbus planes. Other countries have the benefit of being able to service their planes anywhere, but given the sanctions, that isn’t the case for Russia.
As a result, Russia has implemented a bunch of workaround solutions. They’re starting to increase their own civilian aircraft productions while trying to get their current fleet fixed in countries like Iran or ordering parts from middlemen countries like Kyrgyzstan.
Still, morale is low, as one might be able to tell from seeing this video of a man attempting to de-ice a plane not with proper equipment, but… a cone.
