They deserved it, IMO.

On any tourist trip, you’re probably going to end up doing at least one or two pieces of what we’ll call “tourist bullshit.” Swimming with dolphins, overpaying to see the local landmark — there’s a whole host of activities that tourists love doing that locals won’t touch with a 10-foot pole (though they’ll happily charge visitors for the privilege of doing so).

If you’re going to do these activities, you gotta pay for them. If not, you could end up like these American tourists, who are currently nursing a load of welts after trying to run away from a horse cab in Ireland without paying their fare.
