Guns are fun. There’s really nothing like taking your city pals upstate, watching them nervously shoulder a rifle, then having them plow a few targets, with all of them leaving eager to try the experience once more.

That said, crucial to the whole “having a good time shooting” thing is developing an understanding that guns are, while fun, incredibly dangerous, too. They’re designed to kill, so if you’re careless with them, there’s a strong likelihood that you’re going to injure not only yourself, but the people around you. This is why gun safety is important, including having a safe place to put your gun while it’s not in use.

Alternatively, you could do what this guy did and just throw it in your pocket — and have it go off while you’re recording a podcast.
