Glenn Powell Drops Two "Hard Rs" On the CinemaCon Red Carpet
Celebrities have recently discovered a brand new way of being wholly out of touch, this time, failing to realize that the phrase “Hard R” means something VERY different to anyone not working in the film industry.
Fresh off the heels of a breakup after cozying up to his Anyone But You co-star, Sydney Sweeney, Top Gun star Glen Powell found himself in the hot seat yet again after making a few, alarmingly-worded remarks about just how steamy – and definitely not racist – their upcoming RomCom is.
“We go for the ‘Hard R’ which is really, really fun,” Powell said while on the red carpet at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, alongside his co-star Sydney Sweeney, referencing Anyone But You.
“When was the last time you saw a Hard-R RoCom that’s big and it’s cinematic, everybody’s in swimsuits, looking good?” he asked, hopefully, unaware of the term’s meaning to those of us not in the film industry.
As with all white dudes saying the words “Hard R,” Powell’s comments quickly set the internet ablaze, with several fans taking to social media to express their concern.
“Someone needs to tell this man that’s NOT what “hard R” means,” quipped Twitter user @HeyChalice alongside a clip of the interaction.
He did not just say the hard R TWICEEEEEE who made them do this for promo https://t.co/KZ5u3VrJlo
