It’s loud!

Ever since cryptocurrency promised people they could become rich by turning their computer into a space heater, people around the world have rented out data centers and hoarded GPUs in order to turn their municipalities’ power into profit.

This has been an especially big problem in small towns, where resources are plentiful and power is (often) cheap. Numerous such places have complained that their neighborhoods are now dominated by the sound of the fans and cooling systems required for crypto mining, turning their once-quiet haven into places where it constantly feels like a jet-engine is taking off.
