While there’s a lot of conversation about bringing jobs like that back to this country, what is often *not* mentioned is that these jobs really, really suck. Even with modern mining practices, working in one of these positions can be literal back-breaking work, with miners facing on-the-job dangers and side effects that can last a lifetime.
