And it’s incredibly entertaining to watch.

This is Skijor, and it’s been around since at least the early 1900s. As the title of this post states, the idea behind the sport is simple: You get onto your skis, grab onto a rope being pulled by a horse, and from there, well, just hold on for dear life.

While other versions of skijor have people being pulled by cars or snowmobiles, the most entertaining version is easily the equestrian variety. Typically, all a skier must do is hold on and nail some sick tricks off of the nearby jumps, but occasionally, organizers will up the challenge by making them grab rings as they go.
