Internet Dubs Yankees’ Bat Boy ‘Joe Dirt’ 2.0

The Cleveland Guardians and New York Yankees faced off in an early season matchup yesterday kicking off a 3-game series between the two.

The Yankees ended up losing the game 3-2 but won the hearts of baseball fans with the addition of their new bat boy, AKA Joe Dirt. Apparently, the Yankees were down a bat boy and had to borrow an employee from Cleveland. Announcers immediately took notice as the David Spade lookalike was breaking multiple "neatness" rules.

In 1976 the rule was codified by New York that players could not have hair past their collar and no facial hair of any kind (other than clean mustaches.) The red cleats were a strong no-no as well. Yankees policy strictly states that team colors (blue, white, grey) are the only colors allowed on a player's feet.

None of it mattered. Not on this crisp spring evening. The baseball gods shined down and gave us a gift. Joe Dirt 2.0 will go down as an MLB legend.
