It’s the one thing we didn’t want to happen!

Stadiums can be very useful when it comes to hurricane recovery. They’re large, sheltered spaces that are perfect for housing those who have been displaced by the storm, allowing aid workers to distribute emergency supplies and coordinate relief efforts in an efficient manner.

Notice that I began that whole thing by saying “covered.” As it turns out, keeping a stadium covered during a hurricane isn’t as easy as you might think.

Prior to the hurricane, Tropicana Field, the home of the Tampa Bay Rays, had been turned into a “base camp” for recovery efforts. Now, that might be a little more difficult owing to the fact that it doesn’t have a roof anymore and everyone had to be evacuated.
