Tech YouTuber MKBHD Got Caught Driving 96 mph in a 35 mph School Zone
This is not Marques Brownlee’s year, huh?
If you’ve spent any time on YouTube, you know that no community is immune from drama. Still, if you told YouTube fans that one of the creators hit with the most controversy in the last year would be MKBHD, I think it’s fair to say they’d be surprised.
Compared to some other YouTubers, Brownlee’s transgressions to date have been minor. First, he tried to charge $50 per year for an app that lets you download wallpapers (which he later backtracked on), then began producing sponsored content in a way that his fans say goes against what he claimed to stand for.
Now, there’s this: a clip that he posted driving 96 miles per hour in a school zone clearly marked at 35.
In the clip, which he himself posted, he can be seen driving a Lamborghini. While he tried to blur out the speed, it’s also visible in another part of the car, leading people to discover that he was going almost 100 miles per hour in a school zone (the speed limit is visible in the video).
For those who are curious, this would usually result in five points off of one’s license and hundreds of dollars in fines, if not jail time.
Brownlee later posted an apology saying that he cut the clip out of the video and that he wasn’t trying to hide it. I mean, you can say that, but if you’re blurring your current speed, do you really have nothing to hide?
MKBHD was doing 96mph in 35mph "careful children" zone, video wasn't even about cars he was just flexing. I hate cars. pic.twitter.com/zvQsBeNIvW
