Back in the day, the mall was *the* hangout spot. If you wanted to meet up with your friends, but didn’t really know what to do, you could always count on the mall — a place that allowed you to eat, chat and window-shop, all without the real expectation that you actually buy anything.

Nowadays, a lot of these in-between spaces are gone. Everyone wants to know exactly what’s happening and when/where it will happen, making the chill-out sessions of today a far cry from what they were before the days of smartphones.
