The first guy with the backpack is using a signal amplifier to boost the signal from the car's key FOB (inside the house), allowing his partner to get in and drive away. This technique can actually work on a number of keyless entry vehicles, though newer models tend to have stronger encryption and countermeasures like biometrics and/or secondary locks that require PIN activation.
